The Project

When asked to write and design a center spread for a life style magazine, I centered my student project on Oliver Winery. In two weeks, I had the opportunity to interview employees, construct a story, and produce a layout. Using InDesign I pulled together the photos and story to create a design reflective of the Winery's culture and aesthetic.

The Project

The 8th of January, I arrived in Barcelona to begin my study abroad program with the Institute for the International Education of Students. In two months, I filmed my experiences as I traveled the world while studying media + design in Spain. Upon being deported two months early from the program due to covid, I decided to compile my videos into a short film to reflect the impact abroad had on me while in Europe. Fueled by quarantine and the desire to advance in Adobe Premier, I finished the film in three weeks.

National
Recognition

I submitted my film to IES' annual Film Festival in November where a panel of judges reviewed over 500 student submissions from around the world. They granted my film an honorable mention along side only 15 other students.

The Project

Being a young adult living in new places throughout the US and Internationally, I wanted to create an app that would help individuals meet one another while also making recreational activities accessible. The idea came as I searched for intramural and club soccer teams to join. I found the process draining and confusing as I switched from website to website wanting a more transparent and straightforward way to simply play soccer with other adults my age.

Pickup provides an integrative platform that cuts down the paper work and research which comes with moving and trying to adjust to a new area and its programs. With a simple and straightforward approach, doing your favorite activities while meeting others with the same interests has never been so easy and exciting!

The Project

A friend came to me wanting to create a logo design to build an identity for her new studio brand. We discussed all the qualities she wanted to encompass, and being based in San Diego we collaborated the creation of Sunset Studio. I had to create the logo and its variations as well as a presentation for the brands mission statements and product examples. In a few weeks I presented the portfolio and Sunset Studio was born.

The Logo

The sunset Logo is self explanatory yet sophisticated. The reflection of the sun in the water shapes the letter "S", a representation of the brand's name. Located in San Diego, sunsets are an experience not often missed. The colors, the beauty are all experiences her brand reflects in the designs and products brought to her clients. So, hopefully her audience will experience a San Diego sunset no matter where they are in the world.

Brand

"Our company is based in San Diego, California. Known for its beautiful beaches and colorful sunsets, San Diego embodies the way of life our company fuels. Our clients never want the horizon to be the limit, and neither do we."

Logo Animation

Logo animation is critical in the process of forming a complete brand identity.
The client and I discussed how she wanted the animation to look and feel, and using
Adobe After Effects we brought that vision to life.

The Project

We were asked to create a design in Photoshop that incorporated a portrait from Unsplash to tell a story that portrayed the artistic style of a designer we admired. Magdiel Lopez has long been a creator who inspired me to pursue a degree in design, so it seemed fitting to choose him. After finding the portrait and spending 4 hours on Photoshop, I incorporated his stylistic elements of modern surrealism to construct 'NY State of Mind'.

The Project

The LaFrance's came to me wanting film photos for their wedding. Having a digital photographer for the ceremony and reception, they expressed their interest in film photos for the morning of the wedding. After discussing the type of photos they wanted, I went to work with my Yashica FX-2 film camera. This project captures the wedding party as well as the natural family-oriented atmosphere of the morning.

The assignment was to create a poster for Indiana University's Little 500 Race based off the illustrative designs of a famous artists. I chose to mimic the style of Malika Favre, the French graphic artists most widely known for her bold use of complementary colors and clean line techniques. I spent the day composing ideas until I came to the portrait of the biker, which encompassed the feminine elements familiar to Favre. After 3 hours of designing in Adobe Illustrator, I completed the final product for my project.

The Project

We were asked to create a two page spread for an assigned article in 2 hours. I received Nick Bilton's cover on the tumultuous existence of "vintage" technologies. After reading the story, I began creating drafts for my layout design. I wanted to incorporate large text and illustrations with other media to create an asymmetrical feeling for the cover. I chose David Bowie's "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust" as it remains one of the top selling vinyl records of its age. The title of the album also reflects the context of the article. After 2 hours of spacing and designing in Adobe InDesign, I finished the final product layout.

The Project

We were asked to create an album cover using only basic shapes and text in Adobe Illustrator in 1 hour. The album was for 2020's greatest hits. Using Illustrator I created a box and set it to duplicate x100 with each box rotating 5 degrees each duplication. Once I grouped the boxes, I was able to form a geometric gradient background that started from simply a single square. From there, I wanted the text to appear as if it were being sucked down, almost as if it were going down a time warp. I kept the text simple and clean on the back side of the cover while incorporating blue and orange complementary colors to give it an aesthetically easy finish.
